Lye mi lyem ily emily emilye mil yem ilye mi lyem ily emily

Tell all the Truth but tell it slant –

Success in Circuit lies

Too bright for our infirm Delight

The Truth's superb surprise

As Lightning to the Children eased

With explanation kind

The Truth must dazzle gradually

Or every man be blind

We philosophers don't get this, do we? "Tell it slant..." But I think we lack the poets' confidence that we have it to tell, straight OR slant. (That's why some of us envy poets.)

Aphoristic philosophers tell it slant! (Would this be a good bumpersticker?) Nice poem, JMH.
